You don't seem to have listened to the speeches I recorded, where speakers say that the proposed shutdown will damage the music business and entertainment industry, incuding the venues that are specifically set up to NOT be drinking pits.

I also reject the idea that people shoud be forced to go home early for the good of the planet. It seems that this idea would be popular amongst the more extreme sort of green-leaning people who really don't like the idea of humans having fun in the way they choose.

Why the hell do people see the need to stay out after 3am in the morning for heaven's sake? There are two words that both entertainment venues and the public alike need to understand: "balance" and "responsibility". I am not a wowser or killjoy myself, but there are more things that people can do on a Sunday morning than just veging out in bed. I heard Angry Anderson's interview on 612-ABC Brisbane about the lockouts and whilst I am not a major fan of him, I was inclined to agree with what he's said.
What we don't need is to become "the city that never sleeps" - it's screwed up America, and we don't need it here. If we are supposed to be more environmentally aware and conscious, imposing shorter trading hours on commercial venues will be an environmental boon, not a disaster that so many of these trendies are whinging and crying about. Put the planet and your livers first, not irresponsibile behaviour.
