Brisbane Stickers – Thomas St, West End

Brisbane Stickers – Thomas St, West End, originally uploaded by Brisbane Blog Is Against Censorship.
I’m spending the day in West End after taking photos and videos of the Pride rally and march…These stickers are on the back of a street sign on the corner of Thomas and Vulture Streets, just up from the intersection of Vulture and Boundary Streets, the heart of West End.
Brisbane Pride – Homophobic Christians
Every time there is a Pride march there are a few judgemental emotional bullies trying to scare people into hating themselves. Here they are.

Brisbane Buses – only ONE seat?
I’ve blogged before about how the Inner Northern Busway is a great idea. But even the best ideas need to have all the little details thought through. The picture shows you the scene at the Roma Street Bus Station’s inbound platform. And I’d love to know which genius thought that a major bus station only needs one seat.
Brisbane Music: The Whats
This video is The Whats’ clip for their song “All Mouth No Trousers”; it was uploaded by thumperpyp.
You can hear All Mouth No Trousers and five other songs by The Whats at their MySpace page, if you click here.
Brisbane Photos: The Throbbing Heart of the Metropolis
This photo by flickr user Ozventure must have been taken from the walk-bridges that you can see in the photo, near the Turbot St end. The photo is looking directly down Creek St, and you can see cars on Ann St.
I really like the sense of movement and action in this photo.
Brisbane Military History: History Alive Re-Enactment THIS WEEKEND at Fort Lytton
The Queensland Living History Federation presents History Alive 2008 this weekend at Fort Lytton National Park. It’s a weekend of military re-enactment, from Roman times right through to the Vietnam War.
The YouTube video above, by lapinblancdusd shows a History Alive re-enactment of the Battle of Emtsa in 1919, when Australian soldiers fought Bolshevik revolutionaries during the Western intervention that tried to crush the Russian Revolution.
If you’d like to see some photos from previous History Alive weekends, including Napoleonic dragoons (horse-mounted infantry), soldiers with matchlocks, knights and Roman legionaries, click here to see them at flickr.
